The 2022-2023 NBA season started this past Tuesday, with the Boston Celtics hosting the Philadelphia 76ers. The Celtics showed why they were in The Finals last year, holding off the 76ers 126-117. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown put up a combined 70 points, helping interim head coach Joe Mazzulla get his first NBA victory. Opening night was also special because it was a night honoring the legendary Celtics player Bill Russell, who passed away back in July. The game was contested though, and the 76ers fought hard, with Harden’s 35 points, Joel Embiid’s 26 points and 15 rebounds, and Tyrese Maxey’s 21 points, but the team’s 14 turnovers ultimately cost them the game.

This game had some drama in and surrounding it. Of course, all eyes were on this game as it was the first NBA game played since June. With last year’s Celtics coach suspended for the season, people wondered if the new interim coach could lead the team to victory. On the 76ers side, this season is James Harden’s first full one with the team. During the game, there was drama on the court when Marcus Smart and Embiid had an altercation. Smart was fouled for grabbing Embiid’s leg, while Smart claims that Embiid tried to break his arm. Both players ended up on the floor. The season goes on though, with the Celtics going to Miami next game, and the 76ers hosting the Bucks.

I chose this article from an assignment in class. It was a good article as it filled me in on all the important information I needed to know about that game. I like the format of the article, how every paragraph is broken up into just a few sentences, with a space between each one. It makes it much easier to read. I don’t think there is anything I would change about this article. I think it is well written and accurately reports the events in and surrounding the game.
