The Consequences of Michigan State Football (MMQB #4)

I believe that the four players who were suspended should face criminal charges for the incident that happened in the tunnel. That was an assault on a human being, and anyone who attacks another person like that should face criminal charges. The head coach of the team Mel Tucker had something to say about it, as he stated there was “no excuse for behavior that puts our team or our opponents at risk”. This incident clearly did put people at risk, but speaking of the coach, I do not believe he is at fault.

I don’t think Mel Tucker has any responsibility for what happened in the tunnel. He couldn’t have stopped his players from doing that. Unless he told the players to assault someone on the opposing team, which is unlikely, then it isn’t his fault and he should not be held responsible. I don’t think he should be held accountable for his altercation with the fan either. The fan reached out and touched the coach. The article I read says the coach responded by “slapping the fan’s hand away and saying something to the fan”. It doesn’t appear that the coach assaulted him. He simply hit a fan’s hand away. I don’t think the fan should face criminal charges, but maybe be disciplined in another way by the college football association.
