I believe the number one reason for journalists mixing truth and fiction in their reporting is attention. If someone makes up a story, no one else will have that story, bringing more attention to that person. The man who wrote the fake article about a boy dying from cancer said the situation “was a feeding frenzy beyond belief”. This brought a lot of attention to him, and this is what I believe they want. The man who made fake quotes from a coach “admitted that he fabricated the quotes”. He did this because no one else would have this story, bringing more attention to himself since he had the “quotes”.
