After reading an article on the reasons why baseball’s popularity has declined, I say that in today’s world, the struggle to be relevant on social media is the biggest factor. The article states “the inability to be big on social media is just one reason that baseball is likely struggling with today’s youth”. They stated how the biggest baseball star only has 2 million followers, while stars in other sports can have over 100 million. If something isn’t relevant on social media, then it’s hard to spread word and get people to watch it. The other sports and stars in those sports have much more presence and following online, so more people will watch and discuss those games and sports more. The MLB should go out and put stuff out there on social media that highlights their best players and exciting moments to attract people towards watching on TV.
